Mrs. John Facheraud Grimké (Mary Moore Smith) (1764-1839) was portrayed by the miniaturist Pierre Henri in 1791. The daughter of a wealthy banker, she married the planter John Grimké in 1784, and bore him 14 children; two of her daughters, Sarah and Angeline (see Sarah Moore Grimké) became noted feminists and abolitionists.
