Jacob Bond L'On | History of SC Slide Collection

Jacob Bond L'On (1782-1859) graduated from Yale in 1803 and saw military service as an officer of artillery during the War of 1812. He was a member of the South Carolina Senate from 1816 until 1832 and was President Pro Tempore of the Senate from 1822-1828. He supported the Ordinance of Nullification in 1832. Portrait by John Wesley Jarvis (1780-1840), possibly about 1820.
