Jane Bruce Guignard (1874-1960) was born in Aiken County, educated at the College for Women in Columbia (see Chicora College), and in 1900 entered the Women's Medical College in Philadelphia. She returned to Columbia in 1905 to practice medicine, and for 45 years provided obstetrical and general medical care to Columbia families. In 1940, former patients donated a portrait of her to the Columbia Hospital.
