Santee State Park is home to Lake Marion. Fishing, kayaking and canoeing are popular activities. There are also tours to learn about the wildlife.
This area being wetlands hosts quite a few wildlife like wood ducks, gators, turtles, and egrets. Also red-cockaded woodpecker, fox squirrels, and deer reside inside the park. The red-cockaded woodpecker is an endangered species so a designated area has been established for protection.
