Colleton State Park is located along the Edisto River. The park is used for river rescue training and visitors are welcome enjoy the river for activities like fishing, kayaking or tubing. Colleton State Park offers many river courses including a basic canoe course and first aid. The park also has trails and camp grounds.
The park has about ten structures that were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt had established the CCC, a federally funded organization that put thousands of Americans to work during the Great Depression. The public works relief effort was intended for projects with environmental benefits.
