Nils-Udo’s site-specific sculpture is often described as his "response" to an environment. Forms are inspired by the natural space in which he works. All of the senses drive the artist’s work, a process that is transformed by weather, available materials, and time. The senses also drive the viewer’s experience, bridging the finished work to the surrounding landscape. One witnesses the creation and destruction of the nest at the same time. With every passing day, every thunderstorm or sunny sky, the sculpture recreates itself along with the viewer’s experience.
