Oconee, meaning "land beside water," lives up to its name with three man-made lakes. Fishing, boating and skiing are just a few of the activities that take place on the lakes and rivers year-round. Lake Jocassee, Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell provide about 82,000 acres of recreational water to the area.
