Veterans Day was originally celebrated on Armistice Day on November 11, 1918 to commemorate the ending of hostilities in World War I. The Armistice was signed by President Woodrow Wilson on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. In 1954, it was changed to Veterans Day to honor all military veterans and was signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
