Stede Bonnett is a wealthy and well-respected sugar plantation owner from the tiny West Indian island of Barbados. He used his own resources to outfit a sloop he christened "Revenge." With ten guns and 70 men aboard, he left his life of wealth and ease to go a-pirating.
He didn't truly understand how a pirate ship worked, and he didn't understand the danger of the situation he was becoming involved in.
