Anyone who has flown over the Edisto region of South Carolina may have noticed some unusual ring-shaped structures in the marshes below. These "shell rings" constructed by Native Americans thousands of years ago are among some of the oldest man-made objects in North America. To this day, nobody really knows exactly why they were built. Research is still being done as to what purpose(s) these rings served.
Sean Taylor of the SC Department of Natural Resources joins host Andrew Davis as he shares the history of these rings, as well as some of the latest archaeological findings.
