The Boozer family's move from the midlands of South Carolina to its coast was a bit of a homecoming. In 1734, Tom's ancestors emigrated from Germany to the Charleston area, where they worked as shipwrights and masons. Family roots, plentiful wetlands, seafood, and waterfowl drew Tom to settle near a quiet tidal creek on Yonges Island. Tom's experience as a craftsman and architectural historian is currently leading a project to restore the nearby town of Meggett, a historic railroad hub.
