Cedric Umoja is a hybrid- Western and Southern. He was born and partly raised in California but moved to South Carolina after high school.
He was drawn to art at an early age with hip-hop and comic books being his biggest influence. Today, his work is influenced by graffiti and modern European and American art.
He studied under Tony Cacalano, a veteran fine artist. Umoja pulls his visual dialogue from humanity.
Umoja is a member of an artist collective based in Columbia, South Carolina. The group is called Izms of Art. The group is made up of artist of different genres such as painters, tattoo artists, graphic designers, photographers and writers with members living from South Carolina to Bangkok. Their hope is to put art out in a new and different way.
