Wood Song Canoes, Phil's business, gets its name from the feeling he gets as he quietly glides through the water in a well made wooden boat. We visited Phil and his son as they "baptized" a new boat in the black Coastal Plain waters of the Edisto River in Colleton County State Park. After the boat's initial launch, it was sent to a buyer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. There is a good chance the boat will never see water again as it will be displayed as a decorative work of art.
