Accounting technicians compute and record numerical data to keep agency financial records complete. Mathematical skills are necessary to perform daily duties to maintain financial records. Technicians examine and analyze accounting records to determine the financial status of a company and to prepare financial reports. Excellent written communication and organizational skills are important to work in the field of accounting. Accountants with a bachelor’s degree can take a test to become certified public accountants. CPAs are licensed accountants and can work independently or with companies or firms.
