Tradition: The Fading Voices Festival
Each year, on the Saturday before Memorial Day, the Fading Voices Festival is held in Snowbird. The festival commemorates community elders and celebrates Cherokee ways and traditions. Members of the tribe prepare herbal medicine, arts, crafts, and traditional foods and perform ancient ceremonies. One of these is "The Mound Ceremony." It is performed today as it has been for hundreds of years.
