Movie-going was an important source of entertainment during the 1920s and 1930s, and every town of any size in South Carolina had a movie theater in the downtown shopping district. The Rex Theater in Sumter held special showings for school children, and promoted the movies they booked with flyers such as this one, promising a free cookie and soft drink.
