
• Anolis carolinensis
• Often referred to as a Chameleon, but not a true one
• Slight in build with narrow head
• Slender with long thin tail
• Pink dewlap under throat in male hangs down
• Ability to change color in environmental, physiological and psychological conditions
• Can alter pigment cells to change shades of green
• Tail can break off, but it rejuvenates itself
• Eats small insects and spiders
• Lays single white egg in loose, moist leaf litter that hatches after 5 - 7 weeks
• Preyed on by domestic cats and children as pets
• Habitats include greenery, occasional shade, trees, shrubs, and moist environments
