Leonard Todd

Mr. Leonard Todd is a writer from Greenville, South Carolina. He is most well-known for his book titled Carolina Clay. The book is inspired by and centers around his ancestors and a slave they owned named Dave, a potter who belonged to his maternal grandfather's family. Mr. Todd's inspiration for writing came from his mother, who was a poet and encouraged him to advance his skills. He has been a member of many writing workshops and given talks about Dave the potter all over the East coast including the Smithsonian Institute and as far as Oxford, England. In addition, he has taught and given workshops at different colleges and is associated with the Edgefield Regional Arts Society, the Old Edgefield Genealogical Society, and the African American Genealogical Society.
