Barbering

Brian Ham is a barber, specializing in hair design and incorporating pictorial images into haircuts. He is attempting to grow his own business, Barber Shop Experience, into a community gathering place for the African-American barber shop tradition. He began barbering as a teenager with his friends in Hartsville, South Carolina. He had a dream in which he learned the barbering technique necessary to create shading and depth of field in the images of hair. He feels that the dream was a gift of divine inspiration. He earned his certificate of Barbering at Denmark Technical College. He has been practicing privately since 1991 and professionally since 1997. He opened Barber Shop Experience in 2009.
